In the body of Christ, not everyone is called to the five-fold ministry (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers). While some are called to these offices, many have misallocated themselves, stepping into roles they were never anointed for. This is why many believers feel stuck, frustrated, and ineffective—because they are operating outside of God’s divine appointment.
God has promised that when we walk in our true calling, whatever we touch will be blessed and wherever we walk will prosper. But that promise is conditional—it only applies when we are in the right place, doing what He has truly called us to do. If we misstep and self-appoint ourselves, we risk missing the greatest blessings God has for us.
Let’s dive into the Word to understand why misalignment leads to stagnation and why true fulfillment comes from walking in our God-given assignment.
1. The Five-Fold Ministry Is Given by Christ, Not Self-Appointed
Ephesians 4:11-12 (NKJV)
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
2. Not Everyone is Called to Be a Teacher or Pastor
James 3:1 (NKJV)
“My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.”
3. Every Part of the Body Has a Function
1 Corinthians 12:14-18 (NKJV)
“For in fact the body is not one member but many. If the foot should say, ‘Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,’ is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear should say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,’ is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.”
4. God Calls, He Does Not Need Human Approval
Jeremiah 1:5 (NKJV)
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
5. Many People Run Without Being Sent
Jeremiah 23:21 (NKJV)
“I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran. I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.”
6. True Blessing Comes From Alignment
Deuteronomy 11:24 (NKJV)
“Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours.”
7. Many Are Stuck Because They Are Not in Their True Calling
Ecclesiastes 10:10 (NKJV)
“If the ax is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but wisdom brings success.”
8. Jesus Himself Appointed Disciples
Mark 3:14 (NKJV)
“Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach.”
9. Operating Outside of Your Calling Leads to Trouble
Acts 19:13-16 (NKJV)
“Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits… But the evil spirit answered and said, ‘Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?’ Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them.”
10. The Key to Success is Obedience
Deuteronomy 28:1 (NKJV)
“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God… the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.”
God’s greatest blessings come when we obey His voice. When we stop chasing titles and positions, and instead submit to our true Kingdom calling, God will bless our steps and everything we touch.
Instead of seeking position, seek His purpose—and the blessing
