10 Ways To Change Bad Habits & Achieve Success | The Todd Coconato Show
Website: www.PastorTodd.org
To give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give

10 Ways to Change Bad Behavior and Achieve Success: A Christian PerspectiveSuccess in life is not merely about achieving worldly goals but aligning our lives with God's purpose. True success encompasses spiritual growth, character development, and fulfilling our God-given potential. Here are ten deep, transformative steps to change bad behavior and achieve true success from a Christian perspective.
1. Seek God’s WillThe foundation of true success is aligning our desires with God’s will. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Seeking God’s will through prayer and Scripture helps us discern the right path and align our goals with His purpose.
Example: Dedicate time each day to prayer and reading the Bible, asking God to reveal His plans for your life.
2. Embrace Humility and ServanthoodJesus exemplified servant leadership. Philippians 2:3-4 urges us, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” True success involves serving others and putting their needs before our own.
Example: Look for opportunities to serve in your community or church, focusing on helping others rather than seeking personal gain.
3. Cultivate Discipline and Self-ControlProverbs 25:28 states, “Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.” Discipline and self-control are crucial for overcoming bad habits and achieving success. This involves setting boundaries and staying committed to your goals despite challenges.
Example: Create a schedule that prioritizes your goals and stick to it, avoiding distractions that lead to procrastination.
4. Pursue IntegritySuccess built on dishonesty is fleeting. Proverbs 10:9 says, “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.” Living a life of integrity means being honest and trustworthy in all your dealings, which builds a solid foundation for lasting success.
Example: Make a commitment to honesty in all areas of your life, even when it’s difficult or inconvenient.
5. Develop a Strong Work EthicColossians 3:23-24 advises, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” A strong work ethic, grounded in the desire to glorify God, leads to excellence and success in all endeavors.
Example: Approach every task, whether big or small, with diligence and a spirit of excellence, as if you are doing it for the Lord.
6. Practice GratitudeGratitude transforms our perspective and aligns us with God’s blessings. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 encourages us to “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Gratitude fosters a positive mindset, helping us to appreciate progress and stay motivated.
Example: Keep a gratitude journal, noting daily the things you are thankful for, and regularly thank God for His blessings.
7. Seek Wisdom and CounselProverbs 15:22 teaches, “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” Seeking wisdom from God and godly counsel from others can provide valuable insights and guidance, helping you avoid pitfalls and make informed decisions.
Example: Surround yourself with wise mentors and advisors who can provide biblical guidance and support.
8. Persevere Through ChallengesJames 1:2-4 tells us, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” Success often involves overcoming obstacles. Perseverance builds character and leads to maturity and completeness in Christ.
Example: When faced with challenges, view them as opportunities for growth and trust that God is using them to strengthen your faith.
9. Invest in RelationshipsSuccess is deeply connected to the quality of our relationships. John 13:34-35 commands us, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Building strong, loving relationships reflects Christ’s love and creates a supportive community.
Example: Invest time and effort in nurturing relationships with family, friends, and your church community, showing love and care in practical ways.
10. Rely on the Holy SpiritThe Holy Spirit empowers us to live godly lives and achieve true success. Galatians 5:22-23 describes the fruit of the Spirit, which includes qualities essential for success such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Relying on the Holy Spirit transforms our character and guides our actions.
Example: Regularly pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you and produce His fruit in your life, helping you to live in a way that honors God and leads to success.

Success in the world is often measured by wealth, status, and accomplishments. However, in Jesus Christ, success takes on a different, deeper meaning. It’s about living a life that aligns with God's will, bearing fruit that glorifies Him, and walking in His love and truth. Let’s explore what true success in Christ looks like through the lens of Scripture.
1. John 15:5"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
2. Matthew 6:33"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."*
3. Philippians 4:13"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."*
4. Joshua 1:8"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."*
5. Romans 12:2"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."*
6. Galatians 5:22-23"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law."*
7. 2 Timothy 4:7-8"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."

1. Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV):"No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the LORD.
2. Psalm 91:4-7 (NKJV):"He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you."
3. Romans 8:31 (NKJV):"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
4. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NKJV):"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."
5. Ephesians 6:11-13 (NKJV):"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."
6. John 10:28-29 (NKJV):"And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand."
7. Jeremiah 30:17 (NKJV):"For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,’ says the LORD, ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; no one seeks her.”
