Today, I want to talk to you about a topic that is both profoundly important and incredibly empowering: our identity in Christ as sons and daughters of the Most High God.In the midst of the challenges and uncertainties of the hour we find ourselves in, it becomes even more crucial that we understand who we are in Christ and the incredible privileges and responsibilities that come with this identity.
I. Our Identity in Christ:
A Royal Heritage:In 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV), the apostle Peter reminds us that we are "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."Chosen Generation:Christians are referred to as a "chosen generation." This means that believers are chosen by God for a special purpose. God has deliberately selected and called individuals to be part of His family and to serve Him in the world.
Royal Priesthood:The term "royal priesthood" signifies that all believers have a priestly role in their relationship with God. In the Old Testament, priests were mediators between God and the people, offering sacrifices and interceding on behalf of others. In the New Testament, believers are seen as a "royal priesthood" because they have direct access to God through Jesus Christ and are called to offer spiritual sacrifices and intercede for others.
Holy Nation:Christians are described as a "holy nation." This implies that believers collectively form a community set apart for God's purposes and characterized by holiness. It emphasizes the call to live lives that reflect God's moral and spiritual purity. His Own Special People:Believers are considered "His own special people," signifying that God has a unique and intimate relationship with His followers. They are His treasured possession, and He cares for them deeply.
Proclaiming His Praises:The ultimate purpose of this chosen generation, royal priesthood, and holy nation is to "proclaim the praises of Him who called [them] out of darkness into His marvelous light." Christians are called to live in a way that reflects God's glory and to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ with others. In essence, 1 Peter 2:9 highlights the identity and purpose of the Christian community. Believers are chosen by God to be a distinct and consecrated people, serving as a royal priesthood with the privilege of direct access to God and the responsibility of sharing His love and salvation with the world. This verse encourages believers to live out their faith in a way that reflects the character and mission of God.
Loved Unconditionally:As sons and daughters of God, we are loved unconditionally. Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. It says, "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."To understand what it means to be "joint heirs" with Christ from a theological perspective, we need to delve into the biblical and theological concepts behind this term. The idea of being joint heirs with Christ is rooted in the teachings of the New Testament, primarily in the writings of the apostle Paul.Adoption as Sons and Daughters:In the context of our relationship with God, the concept of adoption plays a significant role. Before coming to faith in Christ, we were spiritually separated from God due to sin. However, when we believe in Jesus and accept Him as our Savior, we are adopted into God's family. Romans 8:14-15 (NKJV) explains this: "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, 'Abba, Father.'"
Heirs of God:As adopted sons and daughters of God, we become heirs of God. This means we have a share in God's inheritance, which includes all the blessings, promises, and spiritual riches that come with being a child of God. Romans 8:17 (NKJV) affirms this: "and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."
Joint Heirs with Christ:The term "joint heirs with Christ" signifies that we share in the inheritance of Jesus Himself. This concept emphasizes our union with Christ. As believers, we are not merely bystanders or distant beneficiaries of Christ's work; we are intimately connected to Him. Through our faith in Christ, we become co-heirs of all that Christ has obtained through His redemptive work, which includes eternal life, forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and a future glorious inheritance.
Inheritance in Christ:Our inheritance in Christ is not just material or earthly, but primarily spiritual and eternal. It includes the assurance of salvation, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the hope of resurrection, and the promise of spending eternity with God in His presence. Ephesians 1:11-14 (NKJV) beautifully expresses this truth: "In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory."
Joint Heirs with Christ:Romans 8:17 (NKJV) tells us that we are joint heirs with Christ, sharing in His inheritance. It says, "and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."
II. Why We Need to Know Our Identity in Christ:
Identity Provides Stability:Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) reminds us that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Our identity in Christ is rooted in the unchanging nature of our Savior.Identity Empowers Us:
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) declares, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Our identity empowers us to overcome challenges with the strength of Christ.
Identity Leads to Transformation:2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) reveals that "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." Our identity in Christ leads to personal transformation.
III. Embracing Our Identity in Action:
Prayer and Scripture:Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) reassures us, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Engaging in prayer and studying the Bible helps us understand and apply our identity in Christ.Community:
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJV) emphasizes the importance of Christian community, saying, "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." Christian community encourages us in our faith journey.
Service:Galatians 5:13 (NKJV) reminds us that "For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another." Our identity calls us to serve and love others, reflecting Christ's love. The Deceptive Nature of the World:
In the world we live in today, deception is rampant. The apostle Paul warns us in 2 Corinthians 11:3 (NKJV): "But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." Just as the serpent deceived Eve in the garden, the world can craftily lead us away from the simplicity and truth of our identity in Christ.
Knowing Who We Are:Understanding our identity in Christ is crucial because it provides us with a solid foundation. When we know who we are as sons and daughters of the Most High God, we are less likely to be swayed by the shifting sands of worldly ideologies, false teachings, and deceitful philosophies.
Protecting Against Falsehood:The knowledge of our identity in Christ serves as a protective shield against deception. Ephesians 4:14 (NKJV) instructs us: "that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting." When we firmly grasp our identity, we are less susceptible to being carried away by false teachings and deceitful doctrines.
The Armor of God:Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV) encourages us to "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Our identity in Christ is a vital part of this spiritual armor. Knowing who we are empowers us to stand firm against the schemes and deceptions of the enemy.
Testing All Things:1 Thessalonians 5:21 (NKJV) instructs us to "Test all things; hold fast what is good." Understanding our identity in Christ enables us to discern what is good and true, helping us test all teachings and ideas against the solid foundation of Scripture.
Conclusion:As we navigate the challenges and uncertainties of the hour, let us remember that we are not alone. We are sons and daughters of the Most High God, loved unconditionally, and called to live out our identity in Christ. Embracing this identity empowers us to face adversity with faith, grace, and hope. Let us walk confidently in the knowledge that we are children of the King, with an eternal inheritance awaiting us in the presence of our loving Father.May you find strength and purpose in your identity as a son or daughter of the Most High God, and may your life be a testimony to the transformative power of Christ in you. Amen.

We know that the events surrounding the end times, as described in the Bible, will include a powerful deception (Matthew 24:24;2 Thessalonians 2:11). Recently, interest has been rising in the theory that this deception will include alien beings supposedly from another planet. Although the Bible gives us no word about whether or notaliens exist—there is no inclusion of them in the creation account in Genesis, and no mention of them elsewhere—the Bible does tell us about visitors from another world—the spiritual world.
Since the beginning, instances of demons (fallen angels) visiting the earth have been witnessed and recorded. We know from Eve’s encounter with Satan that demons are interested in monitoring (and altering) the progress of humanity. They want to be involved, with the goal of drawing humanity away from the worship of God and turning mankind’s attention instead to them. Another notable instance of their interaction with us is found inGenesis 6:4with the arrival of the “sons of God.” The Genesis account states that these powerful beings had sexual intercourse with women and produced a super race of beings known as the Nephilim. This sounds like the stuff of science fiction, yet it is right there in the Bible. There are striking similarities between this account and the accounts of other ancient cultures. The writings of the ancient Sumerians, for example (who were the first to produce a written language) mention the presence of the “Anunnaki” who were deities that came from heaven to dwell on earth with men. It is also interesting to note that the Sumerians’ gods often came to them in the form of snakes.
These accounts, seen alongside the amazing things created by ancient man, make it possible to theorize that demons, in the form of beings from another world, came to earth, bringing spectacular wisdom and knowledge to men, and “intermarrying” with their daughters in an attempt to draw men away from God. We already see from Eve’s experience with the serpent that demons will use the temptation of superior wisdom to ensnare man and that man is very susceptible to it.
Could the end times include a similar alien deception? The Bible doesn’t directly address the issue, but it is certainly plausible, for a variety of reasons. First, the Bible tells us that the world will unite under the power of the Antichrist. In order to achieve an agreement between all the world’s religions, it would make sense for the “uniter” to come from an entirely new source—an extraterrestrial source. It is hard to imagine one religion becoming head of all the others, unless new, unearthly knowledge were the source of the appeal and power of the new “religion.” This would be in keeping with past deceptions and would be a very effective way to deceive a large number of people.
Second, this deception could provide an answer to the problem of earth’s origins. The scientific theory that the evolution of life on earth was spontaneously generated still has no answer for life’s beginnings. Many claim that there is evidence for a “big bang,” but there is no explanation for what caused the supposed big bang to occur. If alien beings arrived and gave us an extraterrestrial explanation for life on earth, the origins of the world religions, and even the origins of our planet, it would be very persuasive.
That said, we should not fear. The Lord has said that He will not leave us or forsake us, and that He will protect us (1 Kings 8:57;Matthew 10:31;Isaiah 41:10). Demons / angels are not omnipotent, nor are they omnipresent. Jesus said that in the end times His appearing would be like lightning—easily visible to all. He said to be wary of any being that says “I am the Christ” or any group that says “He’s over there” or “He’s in here” (Matthew 24:23-24). He said that vultures gather around a dead body, meaning that if you see a group of people gathering around someone claiming to be Christ, that person is death and a false prophet.
We should be wary of any person or being that produces signs and wonders without biblical fidelity or the presence of obedience to the Lord Jesus, anyone who provides a way to unite the world religions or governments (Revelation 13:5-8), any being that promotes unnatural sexual relationships (Genesis 6:4;Jude 1:6-7), and of course, any person who denies that Jesus is God (2 John 1:7). Furthermore, anyone who presents a “substitute” Jesus, who represents Him as “a god but not the God” or who claims He was merely a good teacher, simply a human, or even a super-human or an alien creature, is a deceiver.
Lastly, if demons manifesting as aliens are part of the end times, we should remember that they, too, are created beings subject to a sovereign God and ultimately answerable to Him. Whether in alien form or not, the descriptions of demons in Revelation are frightening (Revelation 9:1-12), but we should not fear those who can only kill the body. Instead, we should only fear the One who can kill the body and the soul in hell (Matthew 10:28). No matter what happens to us on the earth, we should trust that the Lord is the Savior, Redeemer, and Protector of the souls of those who put their trust in Him (Psalm 9:10;22:5).

"Coming to the End of Ourselves: Surrendering to God's Grace"
Introduction:Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today, we gather to explore a profound spiritual journey - the journey of coming to the end of ourselves and surrendering to God's grace. This transformational experience is beautifully portrayed in the Scriptures, as we'll see through the ten verses I will share with you.
I. Recognizing Our Need for God:1. Romans 3:23 (NKJV) - "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."- This verse reminds us that we all fall short and need God's grace to bridge the gap.
2. Romans 7:24-25 (NKJV) - "O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!"- Paul's cry reveals the deep realization of his need for Christ's deliverance.
II. Surrendering Our Will to God:3. Galatians 2:20 (NKJV) - "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."- Surrendering means allowing Christ to live in us.
4. Matthew 16:24 (NKJV) - "Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.'"- Denying self is a crucial step in coming to the end of ourselves.
III. Trusting God's Wisdom:5. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."- Trusting God's wisdom over our own is essential.
6. 1 Corinthians 1:25 (NKJV) - "Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men."- Recognizing our limitations and embracing God's wisdom is part of coming to the end of ourselves.
IV. Finding Strength in Weakness:7. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NKJV) - "And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."- We find true strength when we acknowledge our weakness and rely on God's grace.
V. Letting Go of Burdens:8. Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) - "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."- Jesus invites us to come to Him and lay our burdens down.
9. Psalm 55:22 (NKJV) - "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved."- Surrendering our burdens to God is an act of trust and humility.
Conclusion:In conclusion, coming to the end of ourselves is not a sign of weakness but of wisdom. It's a transformative journey where we recognize our need for God, surrender our will to Him, trust in His wisdom, find strength in our weakness, and let go of our burdens. As we embrace these truths, we can experience the fullness of God's grace and His transformative power in our lives. May we all strive to come to the end of ourselves and surrender to God's amazing grace. Amen.

🙏 Friday Service @ The RRC • Elijah and the Prophets of Baal: A Call for True Worship in a World of Compromise 🙏
👉 To Give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give
👉 New Book: www.PastorToddBook.com
👉 Website: www.PastorTodd.org
👉 Church website: www.RRCNashville.org
Today, we delve into a powerful biblical account from the book of 1 Kings, where the prophet Elijah stood against the prophets of Baal to reveal the true God. This narrative not only serves as an historical lesson but also carries profound implications for the state of the Church and the world today.
Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 18:20-40 (NKJV)
I. The Challenge of Compromise (1 Kings 18:21)"And Elijah came to all the people, and said, 'How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.' But the people answered him not a word."
- Just as the people of Israel were wavering between God and Baal, many in the Church today struggle with spiritual compromise.
II. The Showdown on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:22-24)"Then Elijah said to the people, 'I alone am left a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men. Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it.'"
- The Church today often finds itself in a similar situation, with false teachings and practices in abundance.
III. The Power of Prayer and Faith (1 Kings 18:36-38)"Then it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, 'Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You.' Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench."
- In the midst of compromise, Elijah's unwavering faith and prayer brought forth God's miraculous intervention. Our world and the Church need such faith and prayer today.
IV. The Call to Choose (1 Kings 18:39)"Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, 'The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!'"
- Just as the people on Mount Carmel had to choose, we must make a clear and unwavering choice to serve the one true God.
The story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal reminds us that God is still calling His people to choose Him wholeheartedly and reject compromise. It's crucial for the Church and the world to turn back to the Lord in repentance and unwavering faith. As God's people, let us be the Elijahs of our time, standing for truth and righteousness, that His fire may fall and transform our lives and the world around us.
Here are five additional Scriptures that complement the message about Elijah and the prophets of Baal, emphasizing the importance of unwavering faith and wholehearted devotion to God:
1. James 4:8 (NKJV)"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."
- This verse underscores the need for a single-minded devotion to God, just as Elijah called for a choice between God and Baal.
2. Matthew 6:24 (NKJV)"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."
- Jesus' words remind us of the impossibility of serving both God and worldly desires, reinforcing the theme of choosing wholehearted devotion.
3. Revelation 3:15-16 (NKJV)"I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth."
- These verses from Revelation highlight God's disdain for lukewarm faith and the importance of being passionately committed to Him.
4. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
- This Scripture underscores the significance of repentance, prayer, and turning from wickedness, which aligns with the message of Elijah's time.
5. 1 Corinthians 10:21 (NKJV)"You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons."
- Paul's words emphasize the incompatibility of worshiping God and embracing false gods, echoing Elijah's challenge to choose between God and Baal.

The concept of "Great Deception" is discussed in several places in the Bible, and it often refers to a time of widespread spiritual falsehood and deception. Below are some key Scriptures on this topic, along with commentary from various biblical scholars.
1. Matthew 24:24 (NKJV)"For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect."
This verse is part of Jesus' Olivet Discourse, where He describes the signs of the end times. It warns of a time when false messiahs and false prophets will perform deceptive miracles, posing a great spiritual threat even to believers. Scholars suggest that this deception will be so convincing that it could lead astray those who are not firmly rooted in their faith.
2. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 (NKJV)"The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason, God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness."
This passage speaks of the rise of a lawless figure (often associated with the Antichrist) who deceives through supernatural signs and wonders. It emphasizes that those who reject the truth and delight in unrighteousness may be subject to a "strong delusion" as a divine judgment. Scholars differ on the exact nature of this deception, but it is seen as a consequence of rejecting God's truth.
3. 1 Timothy 4:1-2 (NKJV)"Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron."
This passage warns of a time when people will depart from the faith and be led astray by deceiving spirits and demonic doctrines. It highlights the danger of hypocrisy and a conscience that is no longer sensitive to moral truths. Scholars view this as a warning against false teachings infiltrating the Church.
4. Revelation 13:13-14 (NKJV)"He performs great signs so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast."
This passage refers to the false prophet and the Antichrist, who will use miraculous signs to deceive people into worshiping the beast. Scholars see this as a culmination of the great deception, where supernatural events are used to lead humanity away from true worship.
5. Revelation 20:7-8 (NKJV)"Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea."
This passage speaks of Satan's final deception after being released from his prison, where he deceives the nations and gathers them for a final battle against God. Scholars see this as a manifestation of Satan's persistent efforts to lead people away from God's truth.
In summary, the concept of "great deception" in the Bible generally refers to a time of widespread spiritual falsehood and deception in the end times. It includes the rise of false prophets, deceptive signs and wonders, and the rejection of God's truth. Biblical scholars may differ in their interpretations of the specific details, but these passages collectively serve as a warning to remain steadfast in faith and discerning against deception.
