Sunday Service @ The Remnant with Pastor Todd | What happens when we die?

Within the Christian faith, there is a significant amount of confusion regarding what happens after death. Some hold that after death everyone “sleeps” until the final judgment, after which everyone will be sent to heaven or hell. Others believe that at the moment of death people are instantly judged and sent to their eternal destinations. Still others claim that, when people die, their souls/spirits are sent to a “temporary” heaven or hell to await the final resurrection, the final judgment, and the finality of their eternal destination. So, what exactly does the Bible say happens after death?
First, for the believer in Jesus Christ, the Bible tells us that after death believers’ souls/spirits are taken to heaven, because their sins were forgiven when they received Christ as Savior (John 3:16, 18, 36). For believers, death means being “away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:6–8; Philippians 1:23). However, passages such as 1 Corinthians 15:50–54 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13–17 describe believers being resurrected and given glorified bodies. If believers go to be with Christ immediately after death, what is the purpose of this resurrection? It seems that, while the souls/spirits of believers go to be with Christ immediately at death, the physical body remains in the grave “sleeping.” At the resurrection of believers, the physical body is resurrected, glorified, and reunited with the soul/spirit. This reunited and glorified body-soul-spirit will be the state of existence for believers for eternity in the new heavens and new earth (Revelation 21—22).
Second, for those who do not receive Jesus Christ as Savior, death means everlasting punishment. However, similar to the destiny of believers, it seems that unbelievers also go to a temporary holding place to await their final resurrection, judgment, and eternal destiny. Luke 16:22–23 describes a rich man being tormented immediately after death. Revelation 20:11–15 describes all the unbelieving dead being resurrected, judged at the great white throne, and cast into the lake of fire. Unbelievers, then, are not sent to hell (the lake of fire) immediately after death, but they are rather sent to a temporary realm of judgment and anguish. The rich man cried out, “I am in agony in this fire” (Luke 16:24).
After death, a person resides in either a place of comfort or in a place of torment. These realms act as a temporary “heaven” and a temporary “hell” until the resurrection. At that point, the soul is reunited with the body, but no one’s eternal destiny will change. The first resurrection is for the “blessed and holy” (Revelation 20:6)—everyone who is in Christ—and those who are part of the first resurrection will enter the millennial kingdom and, ultimately, the new heavens and new earth (Revelation 21:1). The other resurrection happens after Christ’s millennial kingdom, and it involves the wicked and unbelieving being “judged according to what they had done” (Revelation 20:13). These, whose names are not in the book of life, will be sent to the lake of fire to experience the “second death” (Revelation 20:14–15). The new earth and the lake of fire—these two destinations are final and eternal. People go to one or the other, based entirely on whether they have trusted Jesus Christ for salvation (Matthew 25:46; John 3:36).

TC Radio Show | Has Discernment Left The Building?
Website: www.PastorTodd.org

The word discern and its derivatives are translations of the Greek word anakrino in the New Testament. It means “to distinguish, to separate out by diligent search, to examine.” Discernment is the ability to properly discriminate or make determinations. It is related to wisdom. The Word of God itself is said to discern the thoughts and intentions of one’s heart (Hebrews 4:12).
A discerning mind demonstrates wisdom and insight that go beyond what is seen and heard. For example, God’s Word is “spiritually discerned.” To the human mind without the Spirit, the things of God are “foolishness” (1 Corinthians 2:14). The Spirit, then, gives us spiritual discernment.
King Solomon was known for his power of discernment, making many wise decisions and moral judgments (1 Kings 3:9, 11). Christians today are to be discerning as well. Paul prayed for believers “to discern what is best . . . until the day of Christ” (Philippians 1:10).
A discerning person will acknowledge the worth of God’s Word: “All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse. To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless to those who have knowledge” (Proverbs 8:8-9). Seeking discernment is a goal for all who desire to walk righteously: “Who is wise? He will realize these things. Who is discerning? He will understand them. The ways of the LORD are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them” (Hosea 14:9).
We are commanded to “hate what is evil; cling to what is good” (Romans 12:9). But, unless we have true discernment, how can we determine what is “evil” and what is “good”? In order to maintain the purity of the gospel, the church must distinguish truth from heresy. Wisdom also demands that we properly discriminate between what is “best” and what is merely “good.”
Discernment has many collateral benefits. “My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble; when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet” (Proverbs 3:21-24).
Just as Solomon sought discernment and wisdom (Proverbs 1:2; 1 Kings 3:9-12) to explore the handiwork of God (Ecclesiastes 1:13) and seek the meaning of life (Ecclesiastes 12:13), so should believers seek “the wisdom that comes from heaven” (James 3:17). We must study the Scriptures which are “able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).
May our prayer be “I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes” (Psalm 119:125).

Sunday Service | Mother's Day 2023 "A Mother's Heart..."
Website: www.PastorTodd.orgTo support this ministry: www.ToddCoconato.com/give
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we gather in the presence of the Lord to celebrate and honor a group of extraordinary individuals who have been uniquely blessed with a divine calling - mothers. From the beginning of creation, God ordained the role of motherhood as a sacred and irreplaceable gift. As we explore the pages of the Bible, we discover a rich tapestry of stories that unveil the significance of mothers and their profound impact on humanity. Let us delve into God's Word and uncover the importance of mothers in the Bible.
I. God's Design for Motherhood
A Channel of Life: In Genesis 3:20, we encounter the first mother, Eve, whose name means "mother of all living." God designed women to be bearers of life, mirroring His creative power. Mothers have the unique privilege of participating in God's plan to populate the earth, nurturing and raising children to fulfill their destinies.
A Source of Love and Comfort: The tender care of a mother reflects the boundless love of God. Isaiah 66:13 beautifully portrays God's compassion, saying, "As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you." Mothers have an innate ability to provide solace, encouragement, and unconditional love to their children, pointing them to the heavenly Father's never-ending love.
II. Mothers of Faith: Exemplary Women in the Bible
Sarah: Known as the mother of nations, Sarah believed in the promise of God, even in her old age. Her faith became the catalyst for the birth of Isaac, through whom God's covenant would continue. Sarah's unwavering trust in God's faithfulness inspires us to believe in His promises, no matter the circumstances.
Hannah: Faced with the anguish of barrenness, Hannah poured out her heart to God in prayer, and He granted her a son, Samuel. Through her dedication, she raised Samuel as a mighty prophet who served God faithfully. Hannah teaches us the power of persistent prayer and the incredible impact a mother's influence can have on her child's spiritual journey.
Mary: Chosen by God to bear His Son, Mary embraced the awe-inspiring responsibility with humility and obedience. As Jesus' mother, she nurtured Him, witnessed His miracles, and stood faithfully at the foot of the cross. Mary's devotion and surrender to God's plan serve as a profound example of a mother's sacrificial love and unwavering faith.
III. Mothers: Guardians of Values and Discipleship
Teaching Wisdom and Truth: Proverbs 31 paints a vivid picture of a virtuous woman, whose wisdom and instruction guide her family. Mothers have a critical role in instilling godly values, teaching the Word of God, and shaping the moral compass of their children. The lessons learned in childhood often remain embedded in a person's heart for a lifetime.
Modeling Christlike Character: Mothers bear the responsibility of exemplifying Christ's character before their children. As they demonstrate humility, forgiveness, compassion, and integrity, they become living testimonies of God's transformative power. Children observe and absorb these qualities, developing a solid foundation for their own walk with Christ.
Conclusion:
Dear friends, today we have explored the importance of mothers in the Bible. We have witnessed their divine calling, their unwavering faith, and their pivotal role in shaping lives. Let us honor and celebrate the mothers among us, recognizing the immense impact they have in molding future generations.
To all the mothers present, your tireless dedication, selflessness, and love do not go unnoticed by our heavenly Father. You are cherished, valued, and treasured.

At a young age Mondo was identified as a gangster in one of the most notorious Latino gangs in Los Angeles, California. He was taught on the streets that the life of a gangster brings respect, power and money. The reality was that it brought crime, guns, the possibility of death for himself and those around him, and the probability of being dragged in and out of jail. There came a time where Mondo had to make the decision to stay in the gangster life or leave it behind. He began to understand that everything could turn about in a split second for the good or for the bad and the choices he had made in his past were fast becoming his future.
